August is in FULL throttle, I know this because I dared to go to the shopping mall yesterday – moms & kids everywhere, it was hard to tell who was dragging whom through the back-to-school aisles. I don’t miss that stage of life!
On to a calmer subject…at the lake cottage, Summer is a time when we try to keep the heat down in the kitchen by making meals that use little to no cooking. This translates to a lot of salads, sandwiches, a quick wok-stir fry or outdoor grilling. I Wandered upon this video showing how to cut vegetables using a Roll Cutting technique. Years ago I learned that by using a spiral tool, the cut can dramatically change the taste of salad. A paper-thin spiral cut zucchini or cucumber will absorb much more dressing flavor so the taste is totally different compared the usual slice/chop taste. That spiral cut is used for making my Asian salad recipes. This new (to me) Roll Cutting technique will magically enhance your soups, salads and stir-fry. Try it and enjoy!

Do you alter your Cut for different recipes?
