Happy Holidays! I had to weather the elements in order to get our porch decorated this year. The Christmas tree lot salesman was eager again this year to GIVE me scrap trimmings from the trees. I like FREE stuff especially during the holiday shopping season!
Before I get to my super-simple and affordable DIY Christmas plant arrangement…Today is Day 10 – Twelve Days of Topaz. Today’s feature plug-in is Texture Effects. This is a totally FUN plug-in that brings artful inspiration to your photo editing toolbox.

Back to my DIY…When I got home with my box of free evergreen branches, I cut them back enough so they did not fan out too flat & wide and just stuck them into a plant container.
I had placed a smaller planter inside the tall planter, so the branches stood up. No dirt, styrofoam or filler was added to the planter. The branches hold each other up just fine. I then added lighted willow branches that I purchased at Walmart. The faux berries, wide ribbon and small snow skis…supplies from either last year’s apple crate arrangement, or, as with the ribbon, what I had on-hand. That’s it. Everything is free-standing, not wired together. The whole process took less than 30 minutes to assemble a big festive arrangement that looks even better at night when its tiny lights glow.
I did not cut the long ribbon, the extra length came in handy to loop back into the planter. I hid the battery pak inside the loop so it is convenient to turn on/off.
Thanks for Meeting Me Lakeside!
