It is simple to freshen up a room’s decor by moving accessories from one room to another – the transformation is magical!
I moved an antique typewriter from the office into the living room to restyle the coffee table for Spring. I decided for Spring decor I would use a vintage (Peter) Rabbit theme, that I could weave, in tiny ways, throughout our main living area. The old typewriter became a staging area for a (warning this is nothing fancy) piece of quick-to-make Bunny art.
On my computer, I typed out the some lyrics of the song, “Here Comes Peter Cottontail,” then added the words Sing- Along, and a free vintage bunny image from GraphicsFairy.com. After printing it onto plain ol’ paper, I rolled it onto the typewriter so it looks as though it is in the process of being typed.
So SIMPLE and a subtle hint of more bunnies to come.
More Spring magic happened when I switched-out the pillow covers and gathered baskets to hang on the wall. Really, there’s nothing better than baskets to welcome Spring into your home, and I didn’t have to find a place to store these baskets that had been part of winter vignettes. Over the years I have accumulated some favorite large baskets – they are such a good buy…so versatile. These baskets will moved again in late spring to hold a harvest of cheeses, fruits & vegetables at parties.
It only took an hour at no cost to welcome Spring into our lake cottage. That little touch has inspired me to start planning my Easter tablescape, which gives me plenty of time, now, to do.
What items do you move around for a Spring refresh?
