This past week I was surfing the internet, researching information on essential oils. I shared my recipe for Frankincense Body Butter last week and I was reading up on benefits of other essential oils I might try. You know how surfing the web can take you miles from where you started? Well, I landed on the website of Dr. Josh Axe and learned about essential oils AND Leaky Gut. You’ve heard of that before… it has a lot to do with what you are and are not eating (of course). Dr. Axe’s website is so complete, I even found a recipe for Homemade Rosemary Mint Shampoo. I am all, not just food, about going Organic nowadays, so this is something I will make.
I’m sharing this with you because I think much of what he says makes sense and he has some good eating plans that are directed to helping 5 Gut Types.
Josh is a proponent of probiotics & prebiotics; that our gut relies on maintaining for a symbiotic relationship with trillions of microorganisms that live in our digestive tract. He says we should be eating some of the dirt on our fresh organic vegetables (so Grandma was right to not peel carrots from her garden.) He also says that your friendly 4-legged friends will help bring you those good microorganisms on their little paws and that gardeners get them while working the soil. Interesting…
I was pleasantly surprised to see Josh on Dr Oz this week. (See video link below) Before I close, included in that Oz episode (and included in my video link) is a really interesting segment where author Dana Rosser discusses her new book, “Thru Thick & Thin,”- how to talk to a loved one about their obesity and weight loss, including what expressions to avoid.
