Weekend Wanderings 12.18

Happy Holidays!

I’ve been seeing stars lately, lots of stars…Origami Stars! I was looking at one of my favorite sites for some free graphics and came upon this fun craft that is a collaboration between Graphics Ferry and Dreams Factory (links below.)

But first…Before I get into Weekend Wanderings let me tell you today is DAY 7 Star Effects discount day for 12 Days of Topaz sale. Click HERE for your 40% discount on Star Effects. (Use Code: STARFX12 for 40 % off discount for cost of $29.99) – note too that Day 5 & 6 discounts are extended if you missed out.

I printed out the lovely french papers and followed the easy video tutorial…Voilà, I was able to fold some simple stars to decorate our Christmas tree, for my Neutral Christmas Home Tour.

Largest origami star tops the tree. The music paper is from Graphics Ferry paper download. I used a tooth pick to attach star to the tree.

If you feel a little timid about being able to fold an origami star (or anything, for that matter) I am with you. But the video is well made, so it is easy to follow along, as you pause to get each step completed. After making a couple of origami stars, it became relaxing as I quickly folded a dozen more.

I used gift wrapping paper so the star ornaments matched the wrapped gifts below the tree, giving a “pulled-together” look.

Birch bark gift wrapping paper used for a medium-sized star. It looks like a folded wood star.

Tips: print the largest pentagon star first, it’s bigger size is good for a beginner. After a few stars, trace some pentagons onto other pretty paper you have around the house. Moms, this also would be fun to do with children.

Thanks for Meeting Me Lakeside!

Oh, Baby it’s COLD outside! I decorated the front porch only to pull most of it into the garage to protect from first the rain and now the freeze. Drop by Wednesday and I will share a quick and affordable 30-minute evergreen holiday arrangement.

  1. Thanks Verna, yes if printing from the links they suggest regular bond paper. All of the wrapping paper I tried was fine, some being a bit heavier than regular bond.
