About self portrait framedI’m Kathy, the domestic engineer, who keeps the boat afloat. Actually, it’s the Captain who keeps it all from sinking. I am a wife, empty nester mom, and blog & Pinterest enthusiast. I am enjoying retirement, and now have time to take all of those blogland ideas and use my experience to put my spin on updating my little 1980s Lakeside Cottage.  Our lakeside house (“cottage” is so much more romantic, isn’t it?) is located in central California, where the weather is fairly mild, if you can ignore 2 blazing hot months during summer, so I  work on projects, both indoor and out, all year round. My past work life included graphic arts, typography, and photography which shows in almost every project; or, at least the attention-to-detail, as long as it is simple. I have a passion for home decor, photography and traveling to new places.  MML shares my journey of updating myself & my surroundings and exploring new places, all in a Simple & Affordable way.

My motto is that something does not have to be expensive or complicated to be amazing. So, grab your cuppa joe and Meet Me Lakeside, “where only SIMPLE floats.”

  1. I’m not that much of a internet reader to be honest but your blogs really nice,
keep it up! I’ll go ahead and bookmark your site to come back in the future.
    Many thanks

  2. Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The words in your article seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do
with internet browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know.
The design look great though! Hope you get
    the issue fixed soon. Thanks

  3. Greetings from Carolina! I’m bored to tears at work so I decided to browse your website on my iphone during lunch break.
I enjoy the knowledge you present here and can’t
wait to take a look when I get home. I’m shocked at how
quick your blog loaded on my cell phone .. I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G ..

    Anyways, good site!

  4. Thank you for your comment. Please feel free to subscribe to receive my weekly posts in your email box. So glad to hear my photos load fast, i try to save at a 72 low resolution but not sure I always remember to do that : ) kk

  5. Thanks for the encouraging comment. Please subscribe, rather than just bookmark, and my post will be sent to your email immediately upon posting. Kk

  6. Thanks for info, i double check it in my explorer on laptop and it fits, not sure whose end the problem is on but I will start to see if I can fix it if it is a theme issue. Kk

  7. Love your site Kathy and am anxious to get weekly emails from you. I’m already excited to get my house into fall mode! Thank you

  8. thanks, be sure to go back into your email to hit the “confirm” button in the welcome to my blog reply after doing the Subscribe. I know isn’t it fun to read and see blogs? I have so many that I follow, between them and Pinterest I have to have my own blog to get anything done!

  9. Kathy – after we reconnected at a sad time a while back, I went back through and read all of your posts from the beginning, and have read every week since then. It has been so much fun to follow your very creative projects and see how amazingly talented you have become! I’m sorry to see you give up your blog, but it is true that you “can’t do it all”. Best wishes as you focus on your next endeavors!

  10. Sweet words, actually one of the things I will take time for now is connecting with you! I still have your email so as soon as I get my plate cleared I will drop you a note about getting together. There are several things I’m still trying to figure out on closing yet not losing all of my blog info.

  11. I’d love to connect with you. Be warned – I might try to tap your brain – you’ve got some skills that I’d like to learn! I’m not sure I have your email, but you’ve got mine.

  12. Ha, I’m working this week with a newly retired friend, making place trays in gray tones, so pretty. I look forward to seeing you too!

I love comments!
